Components supplier ZF has introduced a system called Connect@rail that uses vibrations and artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor track condition and wheel errors. AI filters out common events, enabling more accurate identification of track damage, resulting in reduced maintenance downtime. Future developments of the system include the use of different rail and train types as well as a thermal imaging visualization tool.
