VDB records 57% increase in incoming orders in 2023

According to the German Railway Industry Association (VDB), the German railway industry recorded incoming orders of €21.5 billion in the 2023 financial year, which corresponds to growth of 57% compared to 2022. Domestic orders accounted for around 60% of the total volume at €13 billion. In addition, a record revenue of €14.4 billion was recorded, with the vehicle business remaining the segment with the highest revenue at €10.4 billion. Growth in domestic infrastructure sales totalled 17%. The order volume rose by 64% in the rail vehicle segment and by 40% in the infrastructure segment. Infrastructure orders totalling €3.6 billion are recorded on the German market, which corresponds to an increase of 29%.
