Trafikverket to produce report on infrastructure improvement

The Swedish transport authority Trafikverket has been contracted by the government to prepare a report on improving the railway system. This assignment comes as a result of a high maintenance backlog that has built up over a long period of time, as Infrastructure Minister Andreas Carlson explained. In addition to measures to improve railway maintenance, the report is to include proposals to improve the market and to involve companies more in development, innovation, and investment. It will also analyse the causes of delays over the last five years. The report is to be prepared by 12th February 2024.
