Trafikverket and Alstom sign framework agreement for point machines

The Swedish transport agency Trafikverket has signed a 15-year framework contract worth around €107 million with the manufacturer Alstom for the supply of modular point machines. The contract covers the delivery of point machines for conventional and high-speed rail (HSR) lines up to 300 km/h, with the option to extend the contract for up to 25 years. First orders on the part of Trafikverket can take place from October 2024. The modular point machines are expected to improve track stability for passenger comfort and reduce total cost of ownership by enabling automatic track maintenance.
