The Department for Transport has appointment Jonathan Thompson as chair of HS2 Ltd, the company responsible for building the High Speed 2 high-speed rail (HSR) line. Thompson was formerly deputy chair. He had been acting as interim chair of HS2 Ltd following the departure of Allan Cook in July 2021 and has now taken up the role on a permanent basis. Elaine Holt will succeed Thompson as deputy chair. Currently, she is a non-executive director of HS2 Ltd.
