Tesmec to deliver 44 maintenance vehicles to RFI

Italian company Tesmec, through its subsidiary Tesmec Rail, has been awarded a contract worth €109 million for the delivery of 44 bi-mode infrastructure maintenance vehicles, as well as their full-service maintenance over a term of six years, from Italian infrastructure operator RFI. The contract includes two lots. The first lot covers 32 vehicles for the conventional network that are able to take power from the overhead line at 3 kV DC. The second lot includes 12 maintenance vehicles for the high-speed rail (HSR) network, taking power at 25 kV AC. Vehicles in both lots will additionally be equipped with a diesel propulsion module. Deliveries are scheduled to be completed within eight years. When the contract expires, RFI reserves the right to renew the full maintenance service for a further period of six years under the same conditions. In addition, the vehicles will be equipped with an on-board subsystem in accordance with the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 as well as STM SSC/SCMT BL3, and will also be fitted with AMIS/AISM in order to be able to travel throughout the country.
