Siemens Mobility has begun introducing geofencing technology from UK safety technology specialist Tended in the UK, following the successful completion of a six-month pilot programme. The aim of the introduction is to provide additional protection to track-side teams and display the live locations of road-rail vehicles and train cars to easily identify unsafe events. Further development of the geofencing technology is being realised in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA) and will include in-cab warnings for rail vehicles exceeding speed limits on site or approaching approach points to prevent through-traffic.
