President announces expansion of rail network

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced plans to expand the rail network by 2027, including the construction of a €140 million railway line to Belgrade Airport from 2026. The 18 km line will run from Zemun Polje to Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and later be extended to Obrenovac. Other projects include the modernisation of the Nis – Skopje and Nis – Dimitrovgrad lines and the construction of a bypass line for Nis. The Belgrade Centar station project is scheduled for completion on 20th October 2023 and the first line of the Belgrade Metro is planned for 2028.
