Project promoter Tunnel Euralpin Lyon Turin (TELT) has announced new tenders worth an estimated €3 billion for the construction of the Mont Cenis Base Tunnel. The tunnel is part of the 270 km cross-border Lyon – Turin high-speed rail (HSR) line currently under construction. The contracts to be awarded will prepare the 65 km railway line for operation, 57.5 km of which will be in the twin-tube base tunnel between Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and Susa. The new line will include 140 km of tracks and overhead lines, two control centres and five safety areas.
