New Krakow – Myslenice line in planning

Infrastructure operator PKP PLK has awarded a contract for the planning of a new railway line between Krakow and Myślenice. The consortium of BBF and IDOM Inżynieria, Architektura i Doradztwo was commissioned to prepare the planning documents and supervise the construction of the approximately 22 km long line, which will run partly underground. The contractors have 35 months to complete the project, which also includes the construction of new viaducts and bridges. The new connection is part of the Kolej Plus programme, which aims to strengthen rail transport in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. Seven new stops are planned to provide better access for the region's inhabitants. The trains are expected to reach speeds of up to 120 km/h on the line, with an estimated journey time of around 40 minutes between Krakow and Myślenice. The Kolej Plus programme, with a total value of €3 billion (PLN 13.2 billion), is being financed by the Polish government and local and regional authorities.
