Iricav DUE consortium to deliver rails and signalling systems for Vicenza HSR line section

Hitachi Rail, as part of the Iricav DUE consortium, has signed a contract worth €1.8 billion for the design and supply of track and signalling systems as part of a high-speed rail (HSR) project in Vicenza. The contract was signed between infrastructure manager RFI and the Iricav DUE consortium and will allow Hitachi Rail to start work on the Vicenza crossing. The link, which is only 6.2 km long, is designed to improve the connection between Verona and Padua. As part of the project, Hitachi Rail will supply its solution in accordance with the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) for digital signalling. This new contract follows the first phase for the Verona – Bivio Vicenza section, signed in August 2020 and worth over €2.4 billion. The new railway line will be 76.4 km long in total and, in addition to connecting the two cities, will complete the railway link between Milan and Venice.
