Potential beneficiaries can now apply for funds worth €8.6 million (£7.44 million) under a competition managed by Innovate UK together with the Global Centre of Rail Excellence (GCRE) in South Wales as well as the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. The ideas developed through the programme named Innovation in Railway Construction Competition could be tested in GCRE’s test centre. Proposals for projects under the first round will be accepted until 14th December 2022, while funding for feasibility studies could be up to around €29,000. The second round will then be limited to invited parties, where projects developed under the first round will be demonstrated.
