The UK Department for Transport (DfT) has appointed Alex Hynes as Director General Rail Services. Hynes will take up his new position on 15th April 2024 for a two-year secondment, while currently serving as joint managing director for Network Rail Scotland and ScotRail. Current interim director Anit Chandarana will return to infrastructure manager Network Rail as planned at the end of his secondment.
