Fergrupo consortium to modernise Cascais line

Portuguese infrastructure manager IP has awarded a €31.6 million contract for the modernisation of the rails and catenary of the Cascais line to the Fergrupo consortium of Construções Técnicas Ferroviárias, SA and Comsa, SA. It includes the migration of the current electrification system of 1.5 kV DC to 25 kV AC, with the full replacement of the existing catenary between Cais do Sodré and Cascais stations. This investment is carried out within the scope of the Cascais Line Modernisation project that IP is carrying out and is co-financed by POSEUR within the scope of Portugal 2020.
