Feasibility study for new railway line to Kosovo

The Albanian state railway HSH has selected ILF Consulting Engineers Austria-Abkons, an Austrian-led consortium, to realise a feasibility study for the construction of a new railway line from Albania to Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. ILF Consulting Engineers Austria-Abkons has been awarded the €1.64 million (LEK 170 million) project to realise the 14-month feasibility study and prepare a comprehensive project plan. Two options for the new railway line in Albania are being considered, both branching off from the Durres – Shkodër line. The decision on the final route will be made after an evaluation of both proposals. The cost of the project is estimated at €700 million and will be financed by the governments of Albania and Kosovo. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025.
