Fahma tenders dual-system vehicles for RTW

Fahrzeugmanagement Region Frankfurt Rhein/Main (Fahma), part of the Rhine-Main area public transport authority RMV, has invited tenders for the delivery of dual-system vehicles for the start of operations of the Regionaltangente West (RTW). The project is scheduled to go into operation in December 2028. Specifically, this involves the procurement of electric dual-system vehicles for the 750 V DC and 15 kV 16.7 Hz AC voltage systems, which must be approved in accordance with EBO and BOStrab. The vehicles are to be a maximum of 50 m long,  2.65 m wide, and have 360 seats and standing room. It is expected that 25 vehicles will be procured, as well as a maintenance reserve and other vehicles required to fulfil the availability requirements. The exact number of vehicles will be the subject of negotiations and will probably also depend on the individual bid of the respective bidder. The manufacturer will be responsible for maintenance over 30 years. Fahma or RMV will provide the vehicles to the future operator as part of an availability model. Requests to participate must be submitted by 9th April 2024, and the award decision should be made by the beginning of 2025.
