The Italian railway company Ferrovie del Sud Est (FSE) has completed the electrification of the 81 km line from Bari via Casamassima and Putignano to Martina Franca. The putting into operation of the electrification occurred on 16th October 2023. The electrification is planned to be extended by a further 35 km from Martina Franca to Taranto by the end of 2024, when the cabling of the 29 km Noicàttaro – Putignano section is scheduled to begin.
