EIB approves €3.8 billion investment in sustainable transport

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved loans worth €3.8 billion to support the development of sustainable transport. €2.07 billion will be allocated to Czech infrastructure manager SZ for the deployment of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), equipping rolling stock with ERTMS on-board equipment and upgrading TEN-T lines. A loan of €415 million has also been approved for the rehabilitation of the 120 km Vore – Hani Hotit line in Albania. Madrid Metro will receive €200 million for infrastructure and vehicle upgrades under its 2022-25 investment plan.
