German state railway DB will begin construction of the rail line to the Fixed Fehmarnbelt Link on 7th December 2023. The 88 km expansion and new construction of the railway line from Puttgarden to Lübeck will serve as a connection to the Danish Belt Tunnel in the Baltic Sea.
