The Serbian Ministry of Transport has selected a consortium of DB Engineering & Consulting (E&C), a subsidiary of German state railway DB, and Systra to deliver management services for construction works on Belgrade's metro network. DB E&C won the project management contract for line 1 including the depot located in Makisko Polje. The contract worth €46 million will be financed from the Serbian budget. The services provided by DB E&C include project management, planning review, and construction supervision for a total of 21.2 km of lines with 21 stations and the depot. It is the first of three planned lines in the Serbian capital. According to DB E&C, the preparatory construction work will start before the end of 2023.
