Consorzio Stabile SIS to build section for Catania Metro

Ferrovia Circumetnea (FCE) has awarded the works on the Misterbianco Centro-Paternò section of the metro network in Catania to Consorzio Stabile SIS of Turin. The works, which cover an 11.5 km line section through the municipalities of Misterbianco, Belpasso and Paternò and include the construction of five stations, have a total value of about €672 million, with the first contract section worth about €554 million. The Misterbianco-Paternò section represents the final section of the entire 30 km metro line connecting Paternò with Catania and the airport. A later extension of the line along the Paternò-Adrano ridge by another 15 km is possible. The estimated construction time is 35 months, which is in line with the timeframe set by the European Union, as the project involves funds from the National Reconstruction and Resilience Plan.
