A consortium of Webuild and Ghella has won a €1.3 billion contract from Italian infrastructure manager RFI to work on another section of a high-capacity railway line under construction between Palermo and Catania in Sicily. The contract covers the development of 30 km of new railway line to double the Fiumetorto – Lercara Junction (Lot 1+2). Webuild and Ghella had already won two construction contracts in Italy in May 2023.
