Italian state railway RFI has awarded a tender for the extension of the Salerno Metro to a consortium consisting of Eteria Consorzio Stabile Scarl, R.C.M. Costruzioni, Brancaccio Costruzioni, and G.C.F. Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie. The project, worth around €170 million, is funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and includes an extension of the existing metro with a 9 km electrified line along the historic Salerno – Battipaglia line and four new stops. The works are scheduled to be completed by 2026.
