Parliament passes law to establish HSR authority

The Australian Parliament has passed a bill to establish a high-speed rail (HSR) authority. The authority will plan new corridors, supervise the construction and operation of the new networks, and coordinate development with other agencies. The authority will be overseen by a board, with experts from the railway and infrastructure sectors. In addition, all functions of the National Faster Rail Agency, established in 2019, will be transferred to the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts.
