Ministry of Transport opens ROC in Auckland

On 14th March 2024, the New Zealand Ministry of Transport opened the new Rail Operations Centre (ROC) in Auckland. The facility, which will be fully operational by the end of March 2024, brings together staff from New Zealand's state railway KiwiRail, Auckland Transport and Auckland One Rail to improve the reliability of commuter services in Auckland. To better respond to future disruptions in transport, the government also wants to review the Metropolitan Rail Operating Model (MROM), which has not been updated for almost 15 years, to improve the funding and operation of Metrorail services in Auckland and Wellington and make them more reliable.
