Government fills three management positions in railway sector

The Australian government has appointed three senior executives at the director level in the rail transport sector. Nick Miller joins Inland Rail, the company overseeing the construction of a new north-east to south-west rail freight transport line between Brisbane and Melbourne. Following Miller's appointment, Robert Rust will resume his position as chair of the Inland Rail board. Wayne Johnson, who had been CEO and Managing Director of infrastructure operator ARTC since August 2023, has now been confirmed in this position. Timothy Parker has been appointed as the first CEO of the High Speed Rail Authority (HSRA). He replaces Andrew Hyles, who served as Managing Director for the first few months after HSRA operations started on 13th June 2023. The Australian government has committed €305 million (AU$500 million) to the development of a high-speed rail network on the east coast of Australia, starting with the Sydney – Newcastle section. The HSRA has been appointed to advise on the planning, development, and supervision of the construction and operation of the new network.
