Government approves Narromine – Narrabri Inland Rail section

The Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water has approved the Narromine – Narrabri section as part of the Inland Rail project. The approval will support the next phase of planning for the section, which at over 300 km is the longest new Inland Rail line in mid-north-western New South Wales. According to project promoter Inland Rail, survey and investigation work is now critical to the next phase of planning and securing the land. Completion of the Narromine – Narrabri section will link the already completed Parkes – Narromine and Narrabri – North Star Phase 1 sections, create new freight capacity, and improve connectivity to east coast ports and westwards via Parkes to Adelaide and Perth.
