The entire 40 km intercity railway line between the Gongbei district in Zhuhai and Macau International Airport has been opened. The first phase of the project was completed in August 2020. The now inaugurated second phase, a 17.1 km section between Hengqin and the airport, also includes the Jinhai Bridge, a combined road and railway structure that collapsed during construction in 2021, leading to fatalities. The fastest trains are expected to take 36 minutes for the entire line, while slower trains stopping at the other eight stations on the line will have a journey time of 54 minutes. There are plans to provide a transfer facility between Zhuhai Gongbei station and Macau's light rail transit (LRT) network.
