Three new metro lines open

A total of three new metro lines have been recently opened in China, totalling 73 km. On 28th June 2023, the city of Nanjing opened the 46.2 km suburban metro line S4 from Chahe to the Chuzhou main line station in the north-west suburbs of the city. Also on 28th June 2023, Changsha opened the 17.3 km Xihuan Line, connecting the Shantang station on metro line 3 with the Xiangtan Bei main line station along eight stations, with 7.3 km of the line running underground and the remainder elevated. On 29th June 2023, Lanzhou opened the 9.1 km first section of metro line 2 between Dongfanghong Square, where there is an interchange with line 1, to Yanbai Bridge to the north. The second section of line 2 running west from Dongfanghong to Lanzhou Xi main line station is still currently under construction.
