On 21st September 2023, the third section of Xian metro line 1 was opened between Fenghesenlingongyuan and Xianyang Xi Railway Station. The extension is 10.6 km long and includes seven stations, bringing the total length of Line 1 to 42.2 km with 30 stations. Metro line 1 has been opened in three phases since September 2013. Construction of the latest extension was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in June 2019 as part of the Xian Urban Rail Transit Phase III Construction Plan 2018-2024.
