TCDD gives overview of ongoing railway projects

On 23th July 2023, the Turkish state railway TCDD gave an overview of the completed and ongoing railway infrastructure expansion projects in Turkey. The Ankara - Sivas high-speed line (HSR) started operations in April 2023. Other projects currently under construction include the Ankara – Izmir HSR line, the Bursa – Osmaneli HSR line and the Mersin – Adana – Gaziantep HSR line. Also under construction is the 153 km Cerkezköy – Kapikule section of the Halikali – Kapikule HSR line, where €275 million of European Union (EU) funding has been used to finance the project. In addition, construction works are underway on the Sivas – Zara, Sincan – Yenikent – Kazan Soda, and Köseköy – Gebze lines, electrification works on 555 km, and signalling works on 1,460 km of lines. The aim of TCDD is to connect all parts of the country to the railway network and to increase the length of the railway lines to 28,590 km.
