Systra extends consultancy contract for Hanoi metro line 3

The French engineering and consulting group Systra has signed a four-year extension of its consultancy contract for Hanoi's metro line 3, which is currently under construction. Systra has been responsible for preliminary studies, construction planning, tendering, and putting into operation of the new metro line as part of the project since 2007. Line 3 will connect six city districts over 25 km and 12 new stations. The first section of the line will start operation in mid-2024, while underground works will continue with tunnelling in late 2023 and be completed by 2027. The line was originally scheduled to start operations in 2021, and the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB) received the first metro train for the new line from Alstom in October 2020.
