SunCon to build Johor Bahru – Singapore cross-border line

The Malaysian branch of public transport company MRT has awarded Sunway Construction (SunCon) a contract worth €127 million (MYR604.9 million) for the construction of stations and structures on the cross-border RTS line between Johor Bahru in Malaysia and Woodlands in Singapore. According to SunCon, the contract concerns package 1B, covering advance works for stations and viaducts, as well as package 5, covering terrestrial viaducts and ancillary structures. The contract runs for a period of 26 months, with completion expected in the second quarter of 2025. Construction works on the 4 km RTS line started in Malaysia in November 2020 and in Singapore in January 2021. The line is being designed, built, financed and maintained by a joint venture (JV) of Malaysian company Prasarana and SMRT from Singapore under a 30-year concession agreement.
