South Korean consortium to study feasibility of LRT system in Bali

A South Korean consortium consisting of Korail, KRT, Saman and Dongmyeong has been awarded a €11 million (KRW 16 billion) contract to realise a feasibility study for a planned light rail transit (LRT) system in Bali. The contract is financed by the South Korean Eximbank. The study, which covers an LRT line from Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport to Central Parkir, is expected to be completed by the end of August 2024. The first phase of the planned LRT system includes a 9.5 km north-south line, which will be mostly underground and partly at street level. In later phases, the railway line could be extended to Canggu and Mengwi.
