Sirkeci – Kazlicesme suburban railway line opened in Istanbul

The new T6 Sirkeci – Kazlicesme suburban railway line has been opened in Istanbul. The 8.3 km long section of the Marmaray suburban railway corridor was rebuilt and modernised by Kolin Insaat at a cost of €14 million (TRY 480 million). The work included the new construction and upgrading of 21 road and pedestrian subways. The former suburban railway stations Sirkeci, Cankurturan, Kumkapi, Yenikapi, Cerrahpasa, Kocamustafapasa, and Yedikule were modernised and a new station was built in Kazlıçeşme. The line T6 includes connections to the Marmaray and the LRT network as well as ferries and is operated by Hyundai Rotem E32000 series electric multiple units (EMU), which reach a maximum speed of 80 km/h.
