Shaoxing opens metro line 2

On 26th July 2023, the Chinese city of Shaoxing opened its second metro line. The 10.8 km line runs from Jinghu Hospital in the west to Tandu in the east along nine stations, including an interchange at Meishan Square with the north-south line 1, which opened in June 2021. Line 2 will be operated by four-car metros of the Type B from CRRC equipped to run at Grade of Automation 4 (GoA4) with speeds of up to 100 km/h. The metros will initially run every eight minutes and have a total travel time of 17.5 minutes. Line 2 is part of the Shaoxing Urban Rail Transit Phase I construction plan, which was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in May 2016. Construction work on the first phase began in March 2020.
