Rönesans to build Gaziantep – Mersin HSR line

Rönesans Holding has been awarded a contract to build a 286 km high-speed rail (HSR) line between Gaziantep and Mersin in southern Turkey. The line has already been approved by the Turkish Ministry of Transport. The HSR line is expected to reduce the travel time between these cities from six to two hours. Funding for the project worth €923 million has been provided in part by UK Export Finance (UKEF) and a number of global financial institutions. The line is expected to save 157,000 t of CO₂ emissions in its first year of completion.
