Qatar Rail puts Pink and Orange Line of LRT Lusail into full operation

On 8th April 2024, Qatar Rail began full operations of the new Pink Line and the remaining stations of the Orange Line of the Lusail light rail transit (LRT) network. The Pink Line shares infrastructure and six stations with the underground Orange Line from its southern terminus Legtaifya to Tarfat, from where the Pink Line continues its own routing northwards to Seef Lusail-North with four more stations. With the exception of Al Sa'ad Plaza, a transfer station to the future Purple Line, all stations are in operation. The extended Orange Line runs from the current terminus Al Wessil to Naifa and then continues in a loop, which it will share with the future Turquoise Line, serving nine stations in the city centre of Lusail. The network will be operated by a fleet of 28 five-car Citadis light rail vehicles (LRV) from Alstom, with the above-ground sections being completely catenary-free and instead drawing power from Alstom's ground-mounted APS system.
