Preliminary studies submitted for MRT network in Johor Bahru

The Iskandar Regional Development Authority and Johor Public Transport Corp have submitted preliminary studies to the Johor state government for the development of a 30 km Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) network in Johor Bahru. The studies propose three radial lines, each about 10 km long, connecting the city centre to Iskandar Puteri in the west, Skudai in the north and Tebrau in the northeast. At Bukit Chagar, a transition to the RTS metro is planned, which is currently under construction and will connect Johor Bahru with Singapore. An express bus network has previously been proposed on similar lines. The Johor Transport & Infrastructure Committee will review the most suitable proposals from government agencies before forwarding them to the government for evaluation.
