National railway companies Oman Rail and Etihad Rail have formed a joint project company for a cross-border line between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) railway network and the port of Sohar. The Oman-Etihad Rail company is to develop a work plan, financial plan and schedule for the 303 km Abu Dhabi – Sohar line. The line is to be used for both freight and passenger services. The cost is estimated at €3.1 billion ($3 billion).
