The 34 km line 4 and a 14.2 km southern extension of line 2 opened on 29th September 2023. Running from north to south, line 4 connects Zhengxin Lu with Chuangxin Lu, with construction works having started in November 2015. Line 2 has been extended from Quanyun Lu to Taoxian Jichang station at Shenyang Taoxian International Airport, making it the longest metro line in Shenyang at 47 km. For the extension and to increase frequency on the entire line, Shenyang Metro procured 43 six-car B2 trains from CRRC.
