The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Indonesian Ministry of Transport signed a Memorandum of Discussion (MoD) on 11th November 2023 for studies on the first phase of the planned east-west line of the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, which will run from Kembangan to Medan Satria. The 39 km line is part of a planned 84 km line that will run from Balaraja in the west to Cikarang in the east.
