JR Central and THSRC intensify cooperation for HSR

The Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) and the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation (THSRC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 21st November 2023 to intensify their cooperation. The agreement includes staff exchange programmes at Shinkansen control centres, stations, and production plants. Since 2014, JR Central has been providing THSRC with technical and advisory support for the expansion of the high-speed rail (HSR) line from Nangang to Zuoying and the renewal of the electrical equipment. In May 2023, THSRC awarded a contract to the Hitachi Toshiba Supreme Consortium (HTSC) to supply new high-speed trains (HST) for the Tokaido Shinkansen line.
