Izmir to add 2 stations to Izban suburban rail network

The Turkish city of Izmir is to build two additional stations on its 136 km Izban suburban rail network, taking the total number of stations to 43. For this purpose, 3 El Grup Enerji Madencilik has been awarded a contract worth €6.8 million (TRY 174.3 million) to build the two stations. The contract includes the buildings, mechanical and electrical works including modifications to the electrification and landscaping. Work is scheduled to be completed within 540 days. Firstly, the Lale Mahallesi station will be added between the existing Sirinyer and Kemer stations, improving access to the future 13.5 km Üçyol – Buca driverless metro line which is scheduled to open in 2026. Secondly, the Katip Çelebi University station will be located between the Egekent and Ulukent stations.
