Etihad Rail completes last track laying works for Stage Two

Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of the railway network in the UAE, has completed the track laying works of the main line in Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. Those were the last main track laying works as part of the last package of Stage Two of the overall project for the national railway network. The line in Sharjah extends 45 km and is part of the last package of the project, which is 145 km in length. The line includes 54 bridges and 20 animal crossings. It also has nine tunnels which extend 6.9 km through the Al Hajar Mountains, including the longest tunnel in the GCC for heavy freight, which is 1.8 km long.
