CR opens Guiyang – Libo HSR line

On 8th August, Chinese state railway CR opened a 175 km high-speed rail (HSR) line from Guiyang to Libo. This is the first section of the 482 km HSR line from Guiyang to Nanning. Construction work on the line began in December 2017, and the travel time between the two cities has been reduced to 57 minutes. Tests on the section from Libo to Nanning East are expected to start soon. The HSR line forms part of the north-south corridor from Baotou to Haikou. The Longli North, Guiding County, and Duyun East stations have been upgraded, while new stations have been built in Dushandong East and Libo. The entire line crosses the Guizhou Plateau, the Miao Ling mountain range, the Qingshui, Chengjiang and Hongshui rivers, and a number of other complex topographies, with up to 90% of the route passing through the 62 tunnels or over the 86 bridges on the line. CR will initially operate 28 services per day on the line.
