Continuation of railway construction projects

Several new railway construction projects in China have made significant progress in recent weeks. The 277 km Fuzhou – Xiamen – Zhangzhou high-speed rail (HSR) line was opened on 27th September 2023. In northwest China, the preliminary design of the new Yan'an – Yulin HSR line was approved, which will be 239.7 km long and is expected to take four and a half years to build. The project is budgeted at €5 billion (CNY 38.9 billion). In East China, approval was granted for the construction of the Weisu HSR line, which will connect Weifang and Suqian, as well as a connecting line to Qingdao. In Guangzhou, approval was granted for the construction of a new 200 km/h, 25.2 km intercity line between Guangzhou Railway Station and Guangzhou South Railway Station, which is expected to take four years to build and is budgeted at €702 million.
