Construction work started on GTX-C suburban rail line in Seoul

On 25th January 2024, construction of line C of the Great Train Express (GTX) suburban rail network in Seoul began. The 86.5 km line will connect Suwon in the south with Uijeongbu and Deokjeong in the north and will have 14 stations and a maximum speed of 180 km/h. Interchanges will be provided at Samseong station to the GTX-A line currently under construction and at Cheongnyangni station to the planned GTX-B line. The journey time between Uijeongbu and Samseong will be reduced from the current one hour to 20 minutes. The GTX-C line is scheduled to open in 2028. The first section of the GTX-A line from Suseo to Dongtan is scheduled to open in March 2024, and construction of the GTX-B line between Incheon and Namyangju is scheduled to begin later in 2024.
