CMRL awards feasibility study on Tamil Nadu – Bommasandra metro line

On 23rd January 2024, Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) awarded a contract for a feasibility study for a new metro line to connect Hosur in Tamil Nadu with Bommasandra in south-east Bengaluru in Karnataka. The study, to be conducted by a joint venture (JV) of Balaji Railroad Systems and Habog Consultants, is worth €32,000 (INR 2.9 million). The planned line will have a length of 20 km, with 8 km in Tamil Nadu and 12 km in Karnataka. Bommasandra will be the future terminus of the Namma Metro Yellow Line in Bengaluru, which is currently under construction and is expected to open in 2024.
