On 8th December 2023, the 3.2 km Barra extension of the light rail transit (LRT) network in the Chinese city of Macau opened. The extension includes a 2.2 km dedicated lane featuring a guideway on the Sai Van cable-stayed bridge that connects the 9.3 km Taipa Line to the Macau Peninsula. The Taipa Line uses the Automated Guideway Transit rubber-tyre driverless light metro technology from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), supplied under a contract awarded in 2014.
